Why YOU Should Be Sad You're Not At Olivia Rodrigo's SOUR TOUR!
The 'drivers license' singer has hit the road and here's why you should be cryin' in the suburbs that you're not attending!
Last Tuesday (April 5th), Olivia Rodrigo opened her sold-out tour in Portland, Oregon! The tour has been highly anticipated since her debut single 'drivers license' took off last year, topping the charts and smashing all the records. The singer took to the stage and lived up to her reputation of being this generation's pop-punk princess!
Olivia and her all-female band performed 12 songs including 2 covers! She chose to sing 'Complicated' by Avril Lavinge and 'Seether' by Veruca Salt, paying homage to her love of women in rock! Alongside the covers, she played her album 'SOUR' in its entirety (combining 1 step forward, 3 steps back and enough for you for an insane mashup may I add!)
The singer also played some new arrangements of her songs, including the new version of 'jealousy, jealousy' she played in her recent Disney + film 'driving home 2 u', which fans have self-titled 'jealousy, jealousy: rock version'!
If that isn't enough to sell you, the singer also imputed an outfit change into the setlist including a custom Vivienne Westwood dress! She also sported a black lace corset and some half and half colored plaid trousers!
Another bonus for fans on this tour has been Olivia's special guests! Not only has she brought friend and fellow singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams on the road with her but lucky fans in Vancouver got to witness Olivia share the stage with singer-songwriter Conan Gray who Olivia classes as one of her best friends! The pair shared the stage to sing a cover of Katy Perry's 'The One That Got Away'! A song both Olivia and Conan admitted to screaming the lyrics to in the car together! Check it out here:
And last night, Olivia took to the stage in Utah which Olivia has mentioned multiple times as a nostalgic place for her as it's where her show, HSMTMTS was filmed and where she was based when she wrote most of the album! To commemorate this, she added 'All I Want' to the setlist! This was the first song Olivia ever published (yes, even before drivers license) where she was asked by the creator of HSMTMTS to write a song for the show and came up with 'All I Want'! Here's a clip of that too:
Olivia has also been hanging out and meeting fans after the show! This has given fans the chance to take photos and talk to her.
This is the singer's first ever tour, so her budget isn't as big as the likes of her pop mother, Taylor Swift. But her songs alone are enough to put you in your feels and get you dancing! Olivia is clearly a natural performer and has a way of getting people to feel whatever emotion she is feeling; happy or sad. This alone is a massive reason fans resonate with her! If you're heading out to SOUR TOUR, have a blast! And remember to scream till you can't speak the next day like I did :)
